Reflection:
For this week I received words such as nostalgic, playful, moments, negative space as well as mix and collage. This brought forward ideas of mixing black and white images or pieces with the landscape oil pastels. We thought about framing the figure or using high contrast nature photos. We also discussed using images of myself or drawing black and white images of myself, to create a better concept. As we discussed bringing a figure into the work changes the meaning and introduces a different context which I didn't really consider before. The black and white images shown, one individual provided the idea that I should draw on top of the images and fill in the background in a way. We also talked about using organic shapes as the paper and then drawing in those, which I do still want to play around with and try. I was told to push boundaries; not only go bigger with my work but smaller as well. We discussed tearing and ripping to create a contrast and additional texture. I want to look into the history of landscapes and why I am so drawn to them.
